Shocked, I know!

Well, a friend guilted me into to posting an update. We are so busy and everytime we try to catch up on the phone, somebody is screaming, crying or just driving us nuts. I know all of you with small children understand what I am talking about.

So, Mackenzie just turned 2 and she was so happy to have a weekend all about her. She is spoiled rotten and knows how to get her way. She is so different than Luke. Looking back, I ralize how calm Luke was as a toddler. She is so funny and tough. Matt is convinced she will beat Luke up before long. She has started climbing out of her crib so we will be changing the crib into a toddler bed this weekend. She will be so happy. I always see her sneaking into Luke's bed! She has grown up so fast, it makes me wonder about having another...even though I think we are done.

Luke loves preschool and I am so happy that we put him in this year. It is so expensive here in Plano, but I think he is getting a lot out of it and he knows it is something special that he gets to do. He has also made some great new friends. He class is mostly boys and very high energy. Those poor teachers. I am starting to evaluate if we should start him in Kinder next year or wait another year. Such a hard choice. I think Matt wants to start him but I am leaning the other way. I just want to give him every advantage I can and growing up always being the youngest in my class tugs at my heart.

I am still training for my marathon. I have about 6 weeks left of training. I have had a really bad week and the lack of training has me stressed out. I know I am okay, I just want to tock it. Last Saturday I ran 20 miles just over 3 hours. (My goal is a 4 hour marathon). Sadly, I haven't run since. I am hoping for a nice long run tomight to make up and then get back on track Saturday. I am training with Luke's Locker and really like it. My only issue is it seems like we have been training forever since it is a 6 month training group. My head coach just moved back to Atlanta so I will miss him and all his motivation. (He is an ultramarathoner and knows his stuff) On top of my running, I started playing volleyball in a league in Allen with Tracee (Cole) and Christie (Clarkson). It is so much fun and it is nice to finally start doing some things for me.

UPDATE!!!

We have had a busy couple of weeks it is hard to even know where to begin.

*Luke and Mackenzie both had 2 weeks of swim classes. I am so glad they are over b/c waking them up from naps to get to East Plano by 4:30 really took a toll on behavior. Luke improved so much since last year and I am really thinking about signing him up year round in August so I don't have to worry about him so much in our pool. Mackenzie was over it after the first couple days. The classes for babies are so boring!

*We got to go to Olivia Foleys baptism Saturday. It was great seeing Trisha and Ryan and of course OLIVIA> she is such a sweet little thing. It was also great to see the Walkers. It seems like forever and I can't believe how big Jarrod was. I swear the last time I saw him he was maybe 3!

*Mother's Day was great. Matt, Luke and Mackenzie made me breakfast and got me the cutest notepads. They know I have to write everything down now, so they thought it needed to be done in style. Matt also took the kids grocery shopping so I could go for a run!

*Matt's birthday was the Monday following Mother's Day. My gift to him is to go golfing this weekend and the kids got him a tennis racket. Luke was so proud. We also made him chocolate cake and the kids loved cleaning the bowl after!

*Luke is still loving t-ball. He is hitting great and really getting the flow of the game down. He really does have a great coach which I think helps!

*This mourning while I was packing lunch for the park, my 2 angels decided to get into the art paint! When I walked upstairs to get Mackenzie dressed they turned around covered from head to toe in BROWN paint. Yes, I should have dropped everything to get the camera, but was worried about the white carpet that was already covered in paint as well. I threw the kids in the bathtub ran downstairs to get the steam cleaner and scrubbed floors and walls the rest of the morning. Of course we never made it to the park and they will both be going down for an early nap. I love that no matter how high the paint is...Luke always finds a way to get it down.

*I am offically going to attempt to run a marathon in Decemeber. I am really excited. It is my gift to myself for my 30th birthday! So, Saturday morning long runs here I come. I ran 8 this past Saturday and really needed that in order for my mind to believe that 26.2 wasn't too much!

T-Ball

We lucked out in that they didn't have to cancel Luke's t-ball game on Saturday. He is playing with the Astros, a team that played together last season and has a great coach. He is catching on and loving every minute of it. They play 5 inning games or 50 minutes, whichever comes first. For the first game he went 2 for 2 and played, center field, first base and right field. He even tagged a kid out when playing first...he was totally pumped! Oh, he is #8 and loved the uniform aspect of the game. Strange kid...but the baseball belt and shoes makes him feel complete. It should be a fun season and anyone who knows us realizes it is a no brainer for Luke to love baseball.

As for Mackenzie...she was content once she had her snacks in front of her and loved just hanging out at the ball field. I am hoping her great behavior sticks throughout the entire season so I can continue to watch and cheer Luke and the Astros on!

I'm Back and Hopefully for Good

So, I took a few months off from this blogging thing. I am going to give a try again...will see!?!? Since it has been so terribly long, I will just a short update on the kids.

Luke: This child has unlimited energy. He has finished soccer, which he loved. He even scored a goal which we heard about ALL weekend. The very next play, he turned around and blocked a goal...too bad it was for our team. The funniest thing is there was equal excitement in both. He has his first t-ball game this weekend and I know it will be a hit. Why? Because he plays all day long. Anything that he can find that resembles a ball and bat makes him a happy boy! He will be turning 4 in a couple months and the birthday wish list keeps getting longer and longer.

Mackenzie: Just turned 18 months and she is all about the DRAMA! Her favorite thing to do is eat. She stands in front of the fridge and pantry screaming until she gets her way. DRIVES ME NUTS. She is also my dare devil. She has already attempting to jump into the pool and is constantly climbing on everything. I can't believe she is still in her crib! She will be the little athlete for sure. I am also amazed at where she is at. She is already telling me when she has a dirty diaper and loves to sit on the potty, even if she is just wasting time. She also has several words...dog, ball, thank you, please, more and the list goes on.

3 Year Old Soccer

Can you believe it...I am blogging! I am so not one to blog. It actually stresses me out a little.

Anyway, soccer. Luke loves soccer. It is actually causing my child to lose sleep. He had his first practice last Sunday and loved running around acting like a boy with all the other crazy kids! On the way home he kept asking when the next practice was. Fast forward to Wednesday night. As I am getting out of the shower at 10:00 pm I hear him chanting DINOS, DINOS through the monitor of his room.(that is the team name) I haul my butt upstairs already dreading the day we will have on Thursday due to lack of sleep. When I get up there, he has his entire soccer outfit, down to the shin guards laid out ready to go. Cute, right! Anyway, we made it through Thursday with a few meltdowns and a really short nap...due to excitement I am sure! He had another great practice and has his first game Saturday. He helped me make snacks for after the game (trail mix)and helped wash his uniform. What a hoot!

As for Mackenzie...she is better. No more breathing treatments and back to herself. 15 months is such a fun stage. She is into shutting doors and keeps locking herself in a room.

Thumb Guard

Well, Luke had his dentist appointment this morning. Surprising he went in and handle it like a champ. Last time we went they told us to begin talking with him about eliminating his thumb sucking. That in itself is a pain in my butt. I tried and we stayed on him. His mouth hasn't gotten any better, more than likely due to night time sucking. They told me to order a thumb guard. I was thinking it was $20-$30 bucks. WRONG...$70 plus shipping. I plan on ordering it, but let me tell you now...I will be pissed if it doesn't work. I am also a little disappointed that all the doctors claim thumbsucking is no big deal until they are 5. Dentist believe 3-4 thumb sucking should be given up. It is so hard for him, and I will be bracing myself for long nights with little sleep.

Where did the week go?

I wish I had something fun to report, but I don't. The Mize house has been on lock down for the past week. Not the type of family fun I was looking forward to. Mackenzie ended up with an ear infection and RSV, so me being the responsible mom I am refused to go anywhere that other kids might be hanging out. As crazy as I get staying home, it just isn't worth getting another kid sick. I am hoping she kids it by this weekend because breathing treatments with a 14 month old SUCK! I dread it. Luke is feeling better and I know this because he spent a large part of his day in timeout due to testing the waters. The picture is one of Luke's gifts from Santa. This Mack Truck is all I heard about for months. He loved it and hasn't put it down all week.

My goal next week is to fins a preschool for Luke. It is crazy that registration begins the end of the month. GEEZZZZZ...I am thinking I should start a preschool. They charge way too much around here. Luke will also be starting soccer. Should be hilarious!
